The Quiksilver Pro in New York was finished in what some locals believe is the best waves they have seen in decades along their coastline. New York got bagged many times about crap waves and the rest… spectators over the net want to see sick waves and that’s me as well although i believe from a competitors point of view they need the true mix of conditions over the calendar year to get the right man to hold the World Title trophy aloft. Events like New York certainly are not what we saw the week before in Tahiti although like all sports there has to be a place for a event like this as Crowning a World champion needs a couple of events in locations that make the surfers work hard at there game and Brazil and New york fit that bill nicely. They also need the right hand and left hand reef breaks and a compilation of these mixed conditions see’s the true best surfer float to the top each year and there’s no secret why Kelly Slater finds himself at the top most years.

Owen Wright has been a revelation since his inception on to the ASP Word Tour and with such Youth behind him he will not only challenge for silverware this year!! He will tear peoples sleep apart when he has the experience of the Parkinson and Fannings…. The 2011 ASP World Title is only early days and there is a pack there that could pounce with a string of 2 strong event results and the Europe leg as always defines the surfers with momentum..

The SurfGroms features MiniGrom 5-8 yrs and SuperGrom 9-12ys. SurfGroms is a program for young kids looking at getting out and learning how to surf or improving surfing skills whilst learning ocean safety skills and education on beach safety.
